i can't help you with information about the r/v, but the 2 closest train stations are 14th st./union square (multiple trains stop here) or the 23 st. stop on the 6 train. the mta has an excellent web site to help you navigate the subway system. good luck!

According to their website (nps.gov/thrb/planyourvisit/hours) they should be open on New Year's Day: "Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace NHS is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. The site is closed on the following designated federal holidays: Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day." I'd recommend you call the ranger and verify: (212) 260-1616 Also of note, the Upper Gallery is closed for renovations but period room tours are offered at the regularly scheduled times. Personally the tour was the highlight of the trip so it wouldn't deter me from a visit. Hope that helps! Enjoy your visit!
