Arsenal 2 – Brighton 0 match report: open play again ole ole
Arsenal defeated Brighton 2-0 at the Emirates to advance to the Carabao Cup quarterfinal on the strength of second half goals from Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka. A fine day at the office, if you ask me. Rotated the side. Played some young players. No new injuries. Won the match.
Brighton outshot Arsenal on the night, forcing Kepa into six saves. First-choice keeper David Raya has faced just five shots since September. It wasn’t entirely convincing, but Arteta can at least take solace from his side’s spot in the quarterfinals.
Later, a lovely drop of the shoulder saw Dowman slip away from a marker before making another burst for the box. As the half ended, he isolated De Cuyper expertly on the touchline before breezing away from him to receive even more applause.
With their Premier League lead increased to four points over the weekend, the Arsenal juggernaut rolls on to the Carabao Cup, where they host Brighton in a fourth-round clash at the Emirates on Wednesday night. Eberechi Eze scored his first goal for Arsenal against former club Crystal Palace as Mikel Arteta's side won 1-0 over the weekend.
Brighton predicted lineup vs. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Steele; Veltman, Coppola, Dunk, De Cuyper; Ayari, Baleba; Minteh, Gómez, Watson; Welbeck.
Arsenal supporters will be restless over William Saliba’s condition. The defender limped out of last week’s victory over Crystal Palace at half time, his ankle heavily strapped, and he missed the 2-0 triumph over Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal v Brighton: Team news
It is a big night for Max Dowman, who becomes Arsenal's youngest ever starter at 15 years and 302 days old. Mikel Arteta has made 10 changes for the match with Brighton, with only Eberechi Eze keeping his starting place.
The goalkeeper was 16 years and 72 days old, a record that also seemed unlikely to be beaten any time soon. It may take a special talent to beat Dowman’s current record, but now he has a chance to show everyone exactly what he is capable of.
