Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s chief rival, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, has regained a parliamentary seat after cruising to an easy victory in a special election Monday night.

The leader of Canada's official opposition Conservatives, Pierre Poilievre, secured a return to Parliament and a chance to grill Prime Minister Mark Carney over U.S. tariffs, staging a comeback after unexpectedly losing his seat in an April election.

Pierre Poilievre reclaimed his place in Parliament after a decisive by-election win in Alberta, securing 80% of the vote. The Conservative leader is set to confront Prime Minister Mark Carney over US tariffs when the House reconvenes on September 15.
