The Justice Department on Friday released transcripts of interviews its No. 2 official did with Jeffrey Epstein’s imprisoned former girlfriend as the Trump administration scrambles to present itself as transparent amid a fierce backlash over an earlier refusal to disclose a trove of records from the sex-trafficking case.

On Prince Andrew, Maxwell called the allegations against him "mind-blowingly not conceivable", partly due to the size of her house where the events allegedly took place. The royal was accused by Virginia Giuffre, who is not named in the transcript, of sexually abusing her when she was 17. Giuffre took her own life earlier this year.

Audio and transcripts of the interviews were released Friday as the Trump administration seeks to quash rampant speculation about Epstein, who was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell.
