Lane Kiffin’s one reason he likely prefers Florida over LSU is exactly what Gators fans already think it is
The head coaching carousel this year is going to be a wild one, and it got even more so on Sunday night when the LSU Tigers decided to move on from head coach Brian Kelly after a brutal 49-25 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies.
Landry Kiffin missed another Ole Miss Rebels game in favor of the LSU Tigers. The daughter of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and a student at the university did not travel to the big win at the Oklahoma Sooners after she went to the loss at the Georgia Bulldogs the week before.
Kiffin absolutely would mesh with Woodward's big-name affections. He'd fit LSU's needs, too. Unlike two of Woodward’s past football hires, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and Kelly at LSU, Kiffin’s career is trending up. His Rebels beat LSU twice in the past three seasons. He’s in his prime. His floor is lofty, his ceiling untapped.
But as Finebaum discussed Monday, LSU and Florida will have to go head to head for Kiffin, who’s guided Ole Miss to a 7-1 mark with four games to play. The College Football Playoff could be next for Kiffin, who might be in the middle of his best coaching job and team overall.
