Brazilian President Lula and French President Macron discussed U.S. tariffs and the Mercosur-European Union trade deal. Lula opposed tariffs on Brazilian goods, and both leaders committed to concluding negotiations on the trade deal by the end of the year.

The leaders dropped everything to travel to Washington to ensure President Trump didn’t force a bad deal on Ukraine. A road map for peace remains elusive.
