NBA 2K26 usually sells for $69.99 on its own and you’re also getting a $100 discount on the PS5 console with the free game. Sony rarely discounts its products this much and bundling a current sports title at no extra cost shows that the company wants to sell a lot during Black Friday.

Since their launch in 2022, PlayStation 5 consoles have managed to stick to their retail price point through every Black Friday and holiday season, frustrating bargain hunters who waited for discounts that never materialized. This year breaks that pattern dramatically as Sony unleashes massive Black Friday deals across their entire ecosystem.

On Xbox Helldivers 2 sold 1.4 million units, Battlefield 6 has sold 1.2 million in it's first week (compared to 1.5 million on PS5). Death Stranding Director's Cut sold around 60% of what Helldivers 2 sold on Xbox, so approximately 800K, despite releasing 5 years after the PS4 launch.

The GPU in the PS5 Pro has 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the base PS5 and gives it the power to run demanding games at full 4K resolution without using upscaling tricks. You won’t have to choose between frame rate and resolution anymore when you play games that are optimized for the Pro because the Pro can handle both at the same time.

Sony announced the Japan-only PS5 to counter Nintendo’s dominance and revive PlayStation’s declining presence in Japan.

The PS5 has just celebrated its fifth anniversary, having launched back in November 2020. We don't think anyone would argue that this console generation got off to a flying start — the global pandemic all but annihilated any concrete plans Sony had in place — but it has been a very interesting period for PlayStation and the wider gaming industry.
