The top 16 overall teams in the NCAA tournament host the first two rounds. Wisconsin has fit this criteria in all but one of Sheffield’s seasons at Wisconsin. The 2017 Badgers were a No. 6 seed in their region and had to play the first two rounds in Ames, Iowa. (They went on to the regional after sweeping Marquette and host Iowa State .)

With the Badgers down 47-31 at the break, there was hope Wisconsin could chip away at the Husker lead. Apparently, Greg Gard’s halftime message to fix the defensive rotations wasn’t received by the players. Nebraska continued to attack the Badgers’ lackadaisical defense, ballooning their lead to 81-51 with 7:30 left in the game.

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin is making a change at offensive line coach with Eric Mateos taking over for AJ Blazek, whose contract wasn’t renewed. Mateos had coached Arkansas’ offensive line the last two seasons. He also has been an offensive line coach at Baylor (2021-23), BYU (2019-20) and Texas State (2017-18).
