Donald Trump's border czar on Thursday blamed news media leaks for hindering a large-scale operation in a Denver suburb the president has held up in his efforts to link violent crime with immigration.

The high-profile operation appeared to be one of the largest targeted raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since President Donald Trump took office on a promise to deport immigrants with criminal records.

The Trump administration said they were targeting criminals in Denver and Aurora. We asked federal agents how many of the people arrested were violent criminals.

Federal officials said they were targeting over 100 alleged members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang with prison origins that has expanded throughout the Americas.

Also Tuesday, Colorado Public Radio and CBS4 were among outlets that reported the U.S. military was preparing space at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora for staging, processing and temporary holding of “criminal aliens” detained in ICE operations, according to a U.S. Northern Command statement.

Raids at locations in Denver, Aurora and Thornton were ongoing throughout the day on Wednesday. The call to get more fiber into your diet used to provoke some eye-rolling. Fiber is not exactly the most glamorous nutrient.
