The Department of Homeland Security rejected a report claiming that ICE agents would be looking to arrest undocumented immigrants at a graduation ceremony for marines.
ICE agents will be stationed at the access points of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island during Recruit Family Days and Graduation ceremonies to conduct enhanced screening and check visitors' lawful immigration status.
Family members of graduates seeking to attend Friday’s ceremonies will have to show either a REAL ID, a U.S. passport, or a U.S. birth certificate. Undocumented immigrants don’t have U.S. passports or birth certificates, and are “generally ineligible” for REAL IDs, according to NBC.
Fort Sill held a graduation for their basic combat trainees this week for around 200 soldiers who graduated from basic training.
