The magician formerly known as Dynamo wants to summon his inner Danny Boyle. On January 10, Steven Frayne debuts RISE, an outdoor theatrical show to launch his native Bradford’s tenure as UK city of culture.

Bradford’s tenure as the UK City of Culture in 2025 has started with a specular event, including magic from Steven Frayne, who told crowds how proud he was to come from the city. Thousands of people braved bitter temperatures in City Park to watch a show specially created for the start of the year-long festival of art and creativity and involving more than 200 performers.

The countdown is on for Bradford, which is going to be the UK’s City of Culture for 2025. It'll be taking over from Coventry and lots of events will be held around the city next year to celebrate. Shifa has lived in Bradford all her life and loves being from there.
