Dr. Jaha Howard has won the Democratic runoff in Georgia's Senate District 35 special election, securing a majority of the vote and earning a seat in the state Senate.

Democrat Jaha Howard, a dentist and former Cobb County School Board member, is headed to the state Capitol after narrowly defeating fellow Democrat and former state Rep. Roger Bruce during a special election runoff.

Pediatric dentist Jaha Howard defeated former Georgia state representative Roger Bruce in a close runoff for the state Senate District 35 seat on Tuesday.
