A tropical wave in the central Atlantic Ocean shows signs of organizing as it makes its way west toward the Caribbean Sea.
The system was located over the central tropical Atlantic as of 1 p.m. Thursday, and forecasters said they expect it to continue moving west at 15 to 20 mph over the next several days. It could develop more once it reaches the warm waters of the Caribbean, forecasters said.

Although we're entering the final weeks of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, tropical activity is still possible as the National Hurricane Center (NHC) monitors two new areas for possible development near Florida and the Central Tropical Atlantic.
The bottom line is if the 2025 season only had one last shot to threaten land, would it seize it, or just let it slip by?
Forecasters are monitoring two areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic. The tropical wave that is in the central Atlantic has the better chance of developing once it moves into the Caribbean Sea.
