An NYPD officer was shot in the Bronx on Thursday night, two police sources confirmed to CBS News New York. It happened in the area of East Gun Hill Road in the Williamsbridge section, where video shows a line of police cruisers and the sidewalk blocked off. The officer was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

They say he was responding to a robbery when the suspect discharged his firearm, striking the sergeant in the neck and shoulder area.
