The UTVs, or Utility Task Vehicles, will allow police to be nimbler and access areas hard for their patrol cars to reach.
The UTVs can be used to navigate narrow alleyways, in parking garages, on trails and in industrial areas, police said.
KCPD is utilizing the UTVs in response to community concerns about safety and crime in the city's entertainment districts.
