The Tigers announced Thursday that 10 games will be broadcast on free TV (over-the-air), including on Fox 2 in Detroit.
That collective groan you heard moments before the start of Saturday's game might've been the producers of NBC's "Sunday Night Baseball." They're in Detroit this week, and they were geeked to have Justin Verlander making his highly anticipated return to the Comerica Park mound as a Tiger.
Ten games this season, including Friday’s home opener, will air for free on traditional over-the-air television stations. The broadcasts will be simulcasts of the Detroit SportsNet production, featuring familiar voices and faces such as Jason Benetti, Dan Dickerson, Andy Dirks and Dan Petry.
The Detroit Tigers host Game 2 of a three-game weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals with an early start set for Saturday at Comerica Park. The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. ET with TV coverage on ESPN Unlimited and streaming on-demand.
They were just two outs away from ending the game when the umpires decided to delay it in the ninth inning vs Cardinals.
Casey Mize makes his first start of the season as Detroit looks to even the series at Chase Field at 9:40 p.m. ET on Detroit SportsNet.
