The 2022 Volkswagen Amarok has made its debut with a new look inside and out, a much longer list of available tech features, and a longer wheelbase that clears up more space in the cabin.

A prototype for Volkswagen's redesigned Amarok mid-size pickup truck due in 2022 has been spotted for the first time. It was snapped undergoing testing at Ford's main test site in Dearborn, Michigan.

Der Amarok with the Double Cab and Comfortline grade starts at 42,536 euros in Germany, and at the other end of the spectrum, the Aventura will set you back 57,657 before options and accessories.

It's expected to start sales here in late 2022 or early the following year. The Amarok will be limited to parts of Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Australia and New Zealand, VW said.

The rollout of the new generation VW Amarok will begin in the first few countries towards the end of 2022. The pickup, which was developed in Germany and Australia, will be built in South Africa.
