Ethan Nwaneri has hardly gotten on the pitch after his breakout last season. On Wednesday, he reminded everyone how much talent he possesses.
Ethan Nwaneri put Arsenal ahead early in the second half and Bukayo Saka came off the bench to seal the win late on. Before both goals, it was Max Dowman that caught the eye on a night when he made history by becoming the youngest player ever to start a first-team game for Arsenal.
Arsenal will face London rivals Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals, while League One side Cardiff City will host Chelsea in the Welsh capital.
Max Dowman's first start for Arsenal was further reward for his progress this season. The 15-year-old was one of Arsenal's most dangerous players on the senior team's pre-season tour of Asia, winning penalties against Newcastle and Villarreal, and he continued that promise with another solid performance against Brighton.
At 15 years and 302 days old, Dowman comfortably broke the previous record which was held by Jack Porter at 16 years 72 days.
Brighton outshot Arsenal on the night, forcing Kepa into six saves. First-choice keeper David Raya has faced just five shots since September. It wasn’t entirely convincing, but Arteta can at least take solace from his side’s spot in the quarterfinals.
Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri, as they beat Brighton 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the League Cup on Wednesday.
Barcelona have started to look at possible signings that could be added to Hansi Flick’s squad during next summer’s transfer window. There is a need for a new left-sided central defender, and
Brighton predicted lineup vs. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Steele; Veltman, Coppola, Dunk, De Cuyper; Ayari, Baleba; Minteh, Gómez, Watson; Welbeck.
