Urban Meyer is about to take one giant step toward the ultimate homecoming. When UF announced earlier this week that it would honor Meyer during the regular-season finale against Tennessee at The Swamp on Nov.

Florida football newcomers Dallas Wilson and Jayden Woods were named to the 247Sports Preseason True Freshman All-America Team for 2025.

Lagway was viewed as the potential savior of the Florida football program when he committed to the school. He was an elite five-star recruit hailing from Willis, Texas in the 2024 class and was ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 3 overall player in the nation by 247 Sports.

His .813 winning percentage remains a high-water mark that current coach Billy Napier is still striving to reach. Against rivals Georgia, LSU and Florida State, Meyer posted a 13-5 record over six seasons. Those victories helped cement his reputation nationally and elevated expectations that Florida still chases today.

DJ Lagway returns as the starter, but with multiple injuries over the last year, whoever his backup is will be key in 2025.

The Gators’ roster is littered with experience, returning 15 starters from a team that went 8-5 and finished the year with four consecutive wins. Where UF isn’t bringing anyone back, though, it is welcoming top-rated talent like freshman receiver Dallas Wilson and UCLA receiver J.
