Jesus Sanchez's days as an everyday player for the Houston Astros could end upon Yordan Alvarez's return from injury.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Yordan Alvarez looks about ready to rejoin the Houston Astros after a second consecutive successful rehab start with the Hooks. Alvarez had base hits in his first three at-bats against Frisco Thursday, two doubles and a single. He also scored two runs on the night in a 4-2 Corpus Christi win.

Alvarez is also built for the moment and he’s thrived under high-pressure situations, playing a pivotal role in eliminating the Mariners from the playoffs in 2022 in the ALDS—smacking a three-run walk-off blast in Game 1. Houston went on to win a World Series title a few weeks later.
