For decades, the mantra of John Cena has been “never give up.” On Saturday, John Cena gave up, tapping out to Gunther in the final match of Cena’s career. It wasn’t the first time Cena has tapped out in his career, but it was the first time in over two decades.

John Cena may not appear live on "WWE SmackDown" ahead of his last match, but the show is set to feature a "special look" at his career.

Ahead of John Cena's final match, there is going to be a celebration of his career on the December 12th Friday Night SmackDown.

On the June 27, 2002 edition of WWE SmackDown, Cena made his WWE debut by answering Angle’s open challenge. When Angle asked him what quality he possessed that made him think he could wrestle Angle, Cena responded, “Ruthless Aggression,” before slapping Angle in the face to start the match.

After the "Saturday Night’s Main Event" broadcast was complete, current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was the last wrestler left in the ring, soaking in the final moments of Cena’s career. “There’s a way it ends,” Rhodes told WWE’s Jackie Redmond. “He did everything right; by the book.”
