Coastal flooding will remain a major concern along the Jersey Shore throughout the weekend after Hurricane Erin

Although the hurricane won’t make a direct hit on the Garden State, the storm will cause issues, especially along the coast.

Hurricane Erin has weakened to a Category 1 storm after lashing North Carolina's Outer Banks with rough waves and coastal flooding, and bringing a threat of dangerous waves and potentially deadly rip currents to the East Coast.

The system could strengthen into a hurricane and may impact Bermuda, while Hurricane Erin continues to create dangerous swimming conditions at the Jersey Shore

Despite not making landfall, Hurricane Erin caused plenty of damage at the Jersey Shore with flooding and erosion.

Hurricane Erin has triggered a state of emergency in North Carolina, where residents and visitors along the Outer Banks are under evacuation orders.

Erin may strengthen into a major Category 3 hurricane Wednesday night, forecasters say. The worst impacts at the Jersey Shore will occur on Thursday.
