The left side of the Kansas City Royals' infield is set to be in place for years to come, after the Royals and third baseman Maikel Garcia agreed to a long-term extension.

The Royals have had discussions with the Nationals about shortstop CJ Abrams and left-hander MacKenzie Gore, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports.

The Kansas City Royals remained busy on Friday afternoon as they signed veteran reliever Jose Cuas to a minor-league deal. Cuas, 31, returns to the Royals after spending last season in the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves organizations. He last pitched in the majors in 2024 with the Toronto Blue Jays.
