Russia will continue its military operation in Ukraine if Kyiv refuses to negotiate a settlement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday
Russian officials say they have now received the revised U.S.-backed proposal to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine, after high-level talks between American and Ukrainian negotiators in Geneva.
Peskov also suggested that, in several countries, including the United States, there are actors attempting to undermine any potential peace process
The Kremlin said on Wednesday that president Vladimir Putin accepted some US proposals aimed at ending the war in Ukraine and rejected others but that Russia was ready to meet US negotiators as many times as it took to reach an agreement.
Ukraine’s top negotiator is scheduled on Thursday to meet in Florida with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, two days after the American's high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, according to a senior administration official.
Russia said on Monday that it had captured the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, in claims that Kyiv has yet to confirm or deny.
Mark Rutte's comments come a day after Putin rejected US proposals for peace in Ukraine after talks with US negotiators in Moscow.
