Another high-profile contender has officially joined the race for Sen. Mitch McConnell's seat. U.S. Rep Andy Barr announced Tuesday he'd run for seat in what is expected to be a hotly contested primary.

Whether its spreading his political appeal eastward, hugging Trump or avoiding the same message on LGBTQ issues as Republicans’ past, Kentuckians had a lot of ideas for Andy Barr’s fresh U.S. Senate campaign.

Jason and Michael Nemes are the first GOP father-son duo to serve simultaneously in the Kentucky General Assembly in as much as a century. Michael Nemes, a former delivery driver, entered politics after his son, Jason, encouraged him to run for office.

Turnout in presidential elections is normally lower in Mississippi than the nation as a whole. In 2024, despite the strong support for Republican Donald Trump in the state, 57.5% of registered voters went to the polls in Mississippi compared to the national average of 64%, according to the United States Elections Project.
