Governor Ron DeSantis held a series of roundtable discussions on Wednesday with law enforcement officials and Floridians impacted by illegal immigration, emphasizing the urgent need for robust state legislation to address the ongoing immigration crisis.

The veto pledge capped a dramatic few days in which Republican legislators publicly criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis and portrayed themselves as truer allies of President Trump.

A day after the Florida Republican-controlled Legislature rebuked Ron DeSantis by passing an immigration bill called the TRUMP Act that ignored some of the governor’s priorities, the governor took to the road to blast the measure once again on Wednesday,

For the last six years, Gov. Ron DeSantis has been used to getting his way with the state Legislature, at times slashing the priorities of Republican leaders and calling them back to Tallahassee to pass bills that boost his political profile.
