Members of the public are gathering in Gondomar, the hometown of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, for a public wake. This follows a private gathering for relatives earlier in the day. A long queue has formed outside the Chapel of the Resurrection in Gondomar.

The football world is mourning the loss of Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. Jota, 28, and Andre Silva, 25, died in a car crash in Spain in the early hours of Thursday morning. Spanish authorities say the car left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire.

Mohamed Salah has posted a tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. On X he wrote: I am truly lost for words. Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break.
