Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called for restraint between India and Pakistan upon landing in New Delhi on Thursday, state media reported, a day after India targeted what it says are “terrorist camps” in Pakistan in retaliation for a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir last month.

Visits underscore growing concerns that conflict could spiral out of control, but analysts say more concerted global efforts needed to defuse tensions.

Iran’s foreign minister has held talks with top Pakistani officials to try and mediate in the escalation between Islamabad and New Delhi after last month’s deadly attack on tourists in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir.
