San Clemente officials voted against joining Huntington Beach in a lawsuit against the state challenging the California Values Act, also known as SB 54.

Amid a federal immigration crackdown, it remains unclear if an advisory group to recommend policies to protect immigrants will return.

The case, which could impact the city’s 5th District race, is expected to be heard in OC Superior Court on Thursday.
