A 25-year-old Houston man has been charged with smuggling 40 people in a box truck with a hidden compartment, the U.S.

U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Laredo sector say they stopped a smuggling attempt at a checkpoint, discovering 15 people believed to be in the country illegally.

Laredo police are searching for a 19-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a 20-year-old early Saturday, August 16, marking the city’s seventh homicide of the year.
