CHILLING details have emerged about Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, the suspected shooter who killed eight and injured 25 at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in Canada, one of the nation’s deadliest school massacres.
Justin Van Rootselaar issued the statement published by various Canadian news outlets, including CTV, CBC and Global News, on Friday. He expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to families who lost loves ones and everyone affected by the “senseless and unforgivable act of violence.”
The remote Canadian community of Tumbler Ridge is mourning after a mass shooting in killed eight people, mostly children, plus the shooter.
A risk assessment expert in Sudbury, Ont., says she was shocked when news broke of a school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., and wonders what was missed to prevent the tragedy. "What do we as a society miss when someone is on that pathway?” said Anna Barsanti, the community co-ordinator for Violent Threat Risk Assessment in Sudbury.
Two other kids — Maya Gebala and Paige Hoekstra — were seriously injured and were airlifted to a Vancouver hospital. Gebala, who has been described as a tough hockey player and good friend, is fighting for her life at B.C. Children’s Hospital after being shot in the head and neck.
