Is Brian Kelly hot seat-talk justified? LSU would be looking at the wrong things if they let him go
Losing to undefeated Texas A&M and two other ranked teams should not prompt LSU to pull the plug on Brian Kelly.
If LSU fires Kelly, his buyout requires the program to pay 90% of his salary through the remainder of his contract, which would be $52.3 million if he is fired after the season. If a move is made during the season, that would add 90% of the remaining $9.4 million he's owed for this season.
Andrew Whitworth was an All-American and national champion at LSU before he became a two-time first-team All-Pro, Super Bowl champion and Walter Payton Man of the Year in the NFL.
