Historically the city of Venice’s has only cleared the Flamingo Ditch outflow on the beach when it gets blocked. A 2014 demucking of the ditch was a one time-capital project to improve water quality.

The WXII 12 First Warning Weather team is monitoring the storm track for Tropical Storm Chantal (shahn-TAHL). The tropical storm is moving inland over South Carolina through early Sunday morning.
