Newcastle manager Eddie Howe remains hopeful Alexander Isak can be reintegrated to the squad despite the disgruntled striker saying his relationship with the club cannot continue in an explosive midweek post on social media.

Arne Slot's men reportedly had a bid worth £110m rejected by Newcastle at the start of August, with the Magpies seeking a higher fee for a player who is the North East club's record signing when he was bought from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63m.

Newcastle would go on to hand fresh terms to Anthony Gordon, in October, 2024, but the club's hierarchy repeatedly stressed Isak's situation would be revisited this summer. However, rather than wanting to sign a new deal, Isak has instead wanted out.
