After a rainy start to the week in Charlotte, the weather is supposed to improve considerably Thursday when the 156 players in the field begin the first round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

After turning pro last spring, the Baylor product's hot play on the PGA Tour of Americas earned him his Korn Ferry Tour card for 2025. And more hot play there, including a first win, earned him a late invite to this week's PGA Championship by virtue of being in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

The 107th PGA Championship is underway at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The top 3 players in the world will be grouped together with Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and defending champion Xander Schauffele going out at 8:22 a.

Thomas won the PGA Championship back in 2017, which catapulted him into the limelight. His first major victory at a young age of 24 shielded him from broader pressures and left him lacking the “scar tissue” that shapes resilient champions.

The PGA of America does not care how much rain Quail Hollow has taken on this week; their announcement ahead of the first round explained it all.
