A highly contagious illness that can cause pneumonia, swelling of the brain, miscarriage, and even death, has now been confirmed outside of New York City.

New York confirms a measles case in an unvaccinated Suffolk County child, prompting health warnings and calls for vaccinations amidst concerns of spread.

The residents were possibly exposed during a visit to Cohen Children's Medical Center, where a child with measles was treated.

The child, under the age of five and unvaccinated, was treated last week at Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park, located on the Nassau-Queens border.
