The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado has the tallest sand dunes in North America, rising over 750 feet high. The park is located in the San Luis Valley, near the town of Alamosa, and spans over 30 miles. It contains over 5 billion cubic meters of sand, and is surrounded by grasslands, wetlands, and alpine ecosystems.
