With the temperature forecast to be minus 3 degrees tonight two of us went to Bury to start up 56006. The first job was to refit the electronic modules. It had last been started on the 1st Jan ( and the 30th December before that). With the low temperatures 006 turned over but didn’t fire, so a little manual assistance was given to the fuel rack linkage to provide some extra fuel to assist the engine to start. Another visit today and we started the loco up again and checked it got the brake pipe up and then took power both directions in both cabs. After running for an hour or so we started to prepare the tarpaulin to go over the roof at No 2 end. We shut the engine down , put the covers back on the start relays and pulled the tarp up and over the roof and secured it ti the loco body. We then took all 9 electronic modules out of the electronics rack for warm storage. We will continue to visit the loco
