After a long hike from Cinchona I entered the cloud forest of the Blue Mountains, home to some of Jamaica’s rarest endemic plants and animals. After Hurricane Melissa, we need to understand how the forest has changed. Storm damage also creates openings for invasive plants like Pittosporum (wild coffee) to spread deeper into the cloud forest, threatening native species.
